It all depends on the relationship that you established with whatever lawyer you hire after the accident. However, typically, in the State of Florida, most personal injury lawyers, including myself, operate on what’s called a contingency fee agreement or contingency fee basis, meaning, upfront, we ask for no money, whether it be for costs or for fees. However, if a recovery is ultimately made for you, we get a portion or percentage of the recovery and our costs back for having brought the claim.
