What Is No-Fault Insurance?

Back to Videos

Video Transcript

Florida no-fault insurance is Personal Injury Protection benefits or PIP or PIP benefits. It’s a type of insurance that’s on your auto policy to pay for your medical expenses after a motor vehicle crash, whether you’re at fault for causing the crash or not at fault for causing the crash, hence the term or the expression, no-fault auto insurance. For example, if you’re in a motor vehicle crash and you happen to be the one that caused it, the first $10,000 of your medical bills are going to be paid for by your PIP, your Personal Injury Protection benefits on your auto policy and, of course, if you’re not at fault as well. That’s where the first $10,000 of your medical bills are going to come from.
