We then look to your policy to see if you have the uninsured motorist coverage or underinsured motorist coverage, often referred to as UM coverage. If you’re the victim of a crash caused by somebody that has no bodily injury protection at all, we would hope that on your policy you have uninsured motorist coverage. Or if you’re in a crash with somebody that has very little BI coverage, we would look to your policy to see if you have underinsured motorist coverage. It’s the type of coverage that protects you should you ever be the victim of a crash caused by somebody with no insurance or very little insurance.
